Function disadvantage

Function disadvantage is a disadvantage of an engineering system identified during the function modeling.

Overview

There are 3 types of function disadvantages:

harmful functions,
useful functions performed insufficiently,
useful functions performed excessively.

Identifying all function disadvantages of the system is one of the main goals of the function analysis. Along with flow disadvantages, they serve as key inputs for the cause-effect chain analysis (CECA) in the analytical stage of the project.
