Target component

Target component is an object of the main function of the engineering system.

Overview

The target component is always a component of the supersystem.

If the system performs several main functions, there may be several targets too. Different components of the supersystem can be the targets, or different main functions can be directed on one target.

Some examples of the target components can be the following:

a person is a target of the car (the car carries a person),
a bullet is a target of the helmet (the helmet stops a bullet),
a bike-frame is a target of the wheel (the wheel moves a bike-frame).
